Carla Roel de Hoffmann is a lawyer at Universidad Panamericana, Mexico. She holds a Master Degree in Family Science at the Pontifical Institute John Paul II for the Study of Marriage and Family, a Master in Law and has a Doctorate at Law, from Universidad Panamericana, Mexico.
Intensely curious, she has studies in Cannon Law, U.S. Law, Theology, Philosophical Anthropology, Philosophy, Thanatology and the Billings Ovulation Method.
She has been a Family Law Professor at Universidad Anáhuac del Sur and Universidad Panamericana Law Schools for since 1995.
After the death of her three older children she desperately searched for help and found The MISS Foundation. Recognizing the lack of support in Mexico and in Spanish speaking countries in general, Carla took a new life mission to ensure that support was available to those in need in memory of her beloved children. In 1998 she founded FUNDACIÓN ESPERANZA®, a Spanish speaking non-profit organization dedicated to help Spanish speaking bereaved parents. She proudly continues to preside and serve this foundation.
In addition, she has been a MISS Volunteer since 1999, translating into Spanish the works of Dr. Cacciatore and anything that can help the Spanish speaking community within MISS. She is an active HOPE Mentor and has worked one-on-one with many families throughout the years. She also coordinates the MISS Support Groups outside the US. She is a certified MISS facilitator and is a member of the administrative team for the MISS Online Support Groups, serving over 400,000 members worldwide.
As a result of her volunteering experience, she is publishing the Spanish version of "When the Unthinkable Happens: The Death of a Child", as a way to reach out to the Spanish-speaking bereaved community.
She is working on a workbook for bereaved parents as a direct result of her work for MISS and on the second edition of her "Introducción al Estudio del Derecho Familiar" book, as well as her research for her Doctoral Dissertation.
She lives in Mexico City -where she is a Family Law Professor- with her husband and their living three children, their three dogs, six Betta-fishies and a macaw who never stops talking.
