Connie Lemonde

Graduated from high school in 1952; B.S.Business Administration from Union Institute in 1974!

For ten years I did missionary,public relations and supervisory work for a religious organization. At home in RI, I've always been involved in some form of community work, including 3 years on the Board of Directors for the Housing Authority. I bought my one and only house when I was 67 years old!

I'm spending my retirement writing, painting,and am grateful that I can have such a productive years.

In the early 1990's, I noticed that theater drama in this area was for adults only. There were very few opportunities for older children to attend professional plays. So I decided to write a play that families could enjoy together. It turned out so well that I followed with 3 other such works. The stories are now available in a few of my books for children. (Melinda's Doll, Who Found MooMoo?)

My other books are usually about life in and around the 1950's; and they often contain bits of life experience, such as the time I spent working with the migrant workers. They reflect the values and the situations of a time that is as incredible to the young people of today,as the present world is to the older generation. They are written simply and are not modern, but rather historical. I hope they make people think about the differences between now and then; and then, find a place, somewhere in between, where they fit in and feel that the values they embrace are long lasting and make their life worthwhile.
