Gene Morton is a Colorado-based leadership and organization development advisor, as well as a two time award winning author. He specializes in leadership structure, change management, leader development, and performance improvement. His clients are leaders in for-profit, governmental and not-for-profit organizations.

Gene is a lifelong learner. His M.A. in Industrial Psychology is supplemented by years of advanced training in leadership and organization development with the NTL Institute Program for Specialists in Organization Development, the Center for Creative Leadership, and others. He is most curious about the influence of group dynamics on leader, team and organizational performance.

Gene brings a pragmatic compassion to his consulting engagements. He is ever searching for new insight into what makes leaders and organizations most effective.

Mastering the intricacies of organized and collaborative leadership, as well as the power of leaders' strategic visions, are his passions. Over the past 35 years, he’s consulted with more than 100 projects in 85 organizations, some lasting years. These include complex merger, IT conversions, and system redesign projects. These engagements led to a deep understanding of how outmoded leadership structure blocks leaders, groups and individual contributors at all levels.

He shares what he has learned through presentations, coaching, and writing, most recent with his award winning book, Leaders First: Six Bold Steps to Sustain Breakthroughs in Construction. His published articles have appeared in the Proceedings of the Organization Development Network, Non-Profit World and the Training and Development Journal.
