James A. Swartz

James Swartz is an Associate Professor in the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago where he has been on faculty for the past 10 years. He obtained his undergraduate degree in pre-professional studies from the University of Notre Dame and holds a master's degree in experimental psychology from Loyola University in Chicago. His doctorate is in clinical psychology from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. Dr. Swartz has studied substance abuse treatment and epidemiology for the past 25 years following graduate school and is the author or co-author of over 40 peer-reviewed papers published in scientific journals. Substance Abuse in America is his first authored book.
