Mary Kate Caffrey

Mary Kate Caffrey (aka Kate Caffrey) has been teaching theatre and working as a theatre artist since 1987. She is a graduate of Boston College and has a Master's Degree in Theatre from Northwestern University. Although she has spent most of her life living and working in New England, she has also spent time working in Chicago, New York and London. Kate is currently Professor of Communicative Arts at Massasoit Community College and Lecturer in Performing Arts at University of Massachusetts, Boston. She is Co-Artistic Director and a Founding Member of Threshold Theatre where she has directed and performed in many productions. Her production of "Vita and Virginia" which she directed for Threshold Theatre won numerous awards from the Independent Reviewers of New England. Kate was Artistic Director of the Triangle Theatre and Education Director at the New Theatre, both in Boston. She has directed over 70 professional and educational productions in her career, the most recent being "Oedipus at Palm Springs" a co-production of Theater Offensive and The Five Lesbian Brothers. Ms. Caffrey has written 2 full length plays and has adapted two of Shakespeare's plays for adolescent performers. She currently lives outside of Boston with her partner of 30 years, her son and their numerous pets.
