As children we used to listen to my father telling us stories he made up as he went along. We were always fascinated by his ability to create visual images in our mind, allowing us to escape if only for a short time, into some magical wonderland. I enjoyed a happy childhood, getting up to all sorts of mischief and adventure and as I became older, I discovered an urge to create my own set of stories, stories based on many of my own adventures and thus was born The-Spuds. These stories are intended for parents and grandparents to read to their young ones, maybe a bedtime story, a short 'time-out' break during a hectic day, or even a planned 'bonding' time. Each book is intended to create exciting mental images, supported by some very detailed yet whimsical pictures beautifully displayed, showing superb expression and classic scenes. Whilst these stories appeal to all children up to about 8 years of age, the additional benefit is that as they grow up, they themselves can start to read the books again, stretching both their reading skills and imagination. My plan is to complete several series of these stories enabling our much-loved characters to enjoy every aspect of a child's desire for adventure. At the same time, we have tried to include details that should also enable the story-telling parent to raise a smile or two.
