I am a professor at Georgia Institute of Technology and the Executive Director of the Strategic Energy Institute. I have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and am a licensed professional engineer. I lead a diverse research group investigating a range of problems associated with clean power, energy, and combustion, including such issues as emissions, efficiency, and alternative fuels. I've edited/written four books, written 7 book chapters and over 200 papers, and received 3 patents.
In addition to working, I enjoy the outdoors, particularly the mountains. While in college, I worked as a seasonal employee with the US Forest Service in Idaho and Southeast Alaska, which provided me lots of opportunities to see big, beautiful country. Now that I'm a little more cooped up in my office in Atlanta, I enjoy running, playing soccer, bowlturning, hiking, and playing with my 4 daughters.
