Bill Cairns

Bill Cairns grew up in north central Illinois, where he now lives with his wife, Rebecca. He has 35 years continuous service with the Ottawa River Rescue Squad, a volunteer river rescue unit.

He is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Credits include "The Silver Bears", centerpiece poem, Ladybug magazine, Jan. 2007, and "Stumps", Ladybug magazine, April 2010. Into the Hornets' Nest received the SCBWI 2008 Work-in-Progress Grant Letter of Merit.

Bill is also the author of "My Foundation", the basis for a collaboration with Missouri Composer Laureate Susan LaBarr titled "Storm Country", dedicated to the people of Joplin, Mo. The song will be available soon from Santa Barbara Music Publishing, as "After the Storm."
