James D. Grady

Dr. James Grady co-authored the recently published book "The Pivot Point: Success in Organizational Change", and is presently contributing to a multi-author book manuscript on the international dynamics in family businesses.

He has practiced Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Opelika/Auburn, Alabama for 35 years. He was appointed by then Governor Fob James to serve on the Alabama Commission on Higher Education from 1983-1992(the state funding and program approval agency for state institutions of higher education).

In his practice and as an avocation, he has been a keen observer and student of human behavior. His interests in these regards have led him on what he describes as 40+ year journey of discovery both in his field and in the field of human motivation, human behavior, and it relation to business and management.

Dr. J. Grady became aware of the works of management visionary, Dr. Elliott Jaques in 2000, and he met with Dr. Jaques in 2001, an experience which provided considerable insight into some of the nuance of Stratified Systems Theory and its author. Since that time he has further expanded his knowledge of organizational behavior and change. He has been an active participant in the development of the LOE Index and continues to aggressively pursue a more comprehensive understanding of the intersection of human nature and organizational behavior.

Along with his daughter, Victoria M. Grady, he has recently co-authored six papers and made presentations at academic conferences and seminars in the field of organizational behavior, change and trust, both here and abroad. Dr. J. Grady also serves as Guest Lecturer for the Organizational Science Department at The George Washington University.

He is active in professional organizations dedicated to the study of behavior and organizational change and presently serves as a consultant in health care, educational, and business-related sectors.
