I am a story teller. I tell stories from my imagination and my heart.
I have stood upon the topless towers of Illium, and heard of Agememnon's boasts, as the thunder of stallions' hooves, and the cries of men, drowned out the sound of Helen's lyre. I watched the descending blood moon crash earthward and doom mankind, as only a few had the courage to flee their planetary bounds. When Zion fell, I wept in captivity, and cursed the god that abandoned me. I awoke in time to watch the dying Beeteljuice in its last illumination, as her agonies thundered across the galaxy, disrupting whole worlds and civilizations, only to fade away and fall into darkness. I laughed with Kublai, as Xiangyang burned in a cyclone of fire amidst the wailing of their women.
Only a few were present at the beginning, as well as at the end, but I was one. Come with me. Listen to my stories. Sometimes in humor, occasionally in jest, but always with careful attention to our common human condition and their never ending complexities.
About TJ Bryan:
TJ Bryan spent his childhood in a similar environment to the fictional Diablo Valley of his early novels and in the very real halls of power in Washington DC. The vastness of the Great American Desert, the mysteries of the old myths of lost treasures and Spanish Galleons, and the vast monoculture of the valley dominated by only a few large landowners, always intrigued the young TJ. In high school TJ moved to the political enclave of Chevy Chase near Washington DC as his family pursued successful political careers on the Capitol Hill. While living in the suburbs of DC Bryan wandered through the halls of Congress often spending hours in the House and Senate Galleries following the activities of politicians and political movements. At night he was a voracious reader of history and science fiction.
One of TJ's earliest observations, that led to his view of our political system, was watching major legislation supported by one party for years, which that same party chose to oppose, when the opposition was inclined to support the same legislation. At this point it became clear that the purpose of politics was not to pass legislation favorable to the country and nation, but instead to prevent the opposition from claiming success in representing the people.
TJ took a year off between graduation from high school in Maryland and entering college at Stanford University to participate full time in a presidential campaign as an employee of a major political party in a campaign noted for dirty tricks, the easy flow of corrupting money, and the venery of partisan politics. Bryan is a graduate of Stanford University with high honors, and traveled the world as a senior executive in several successful pioneering computer and software companies.
TJ is intimately familiar with the capitols and cultures of Europe and Asia having spent years in such cities as Tokyo, Paris, London, and Zurich. Among his favorite cities are Kyoto, Japan and Munich.
Now retired and living in Northern California TJ has begun to combine the stories of his early life, his experiences in politics, and his close association with law enforcement into the Sheriff Rogan Mystery Series. TJ has commented that these novels are not autobiographical in any way, but they do draw from personal experiences and observations which the author feels provides authenticity and fair depictions of those who faithfully serve their communities in the face of a disinterested electorate and a broken political system.
A recent addition to his efforts is his Science Fiction series The Commonwealth Obsidian Navy, now extending to more than nine books. TJ attempts to deal with the questions of what happens to human culture in a war without end. What is the price to be paid in the human psyche in wars that are fought without even the possibility of victory and only the prayer of survival?
These and other stories by TJ Bryan are available exclusively on Amazon and are formatted for the Kindle.
