Dr. Lloyd Waller (Short Bio)

Lloyd Waller is Social and Behavioural Scientist (Business, Government and Society). He currently lectures Research Methods/Methodology, Political Sociology, Political Marketing and Electronic Governance in the Department of Government at the University of the West Indies, Mona-Jamaica. He has lectured Organizational Theory and Behaviour, Entrepreneurship and Project Management, Business Research Methods as well as Sociology of Work and Professions at various other universities around the world.

Dr. Waller holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology and Social Policy from the University of Waikato, New Zealand. Dr. Waller also holds a B.Sc. in International Relations, and a M.Sc. in Sociology of Development both from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus in Jamaica..

In the last 10 years, Dr. Waller has worked with several international development agencies in the capacity of Project Manager on various development initiatives. Some of these agencies include the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the European Union (EU) as well as the Organization of American States (OAS). Some of these initiatives include the establishment of the CISCO Systems Regional Academy in Jamaica, the management of 30 GoJ/EU Poverty Reduction Community Development Projects across Jamaica as well as the development of Caribbean centered courses on Electronic Government and, Youth and Democracy for the OAS.

His primary areas of research are (1) Advanced Research Methodologies and (2) Development Studies - with a special emphasis on corruption, electronic governance, as well as information and communication technologies for development, (3) Political Sociology and (4) Organizational Theory and Behaviour. His secondary areas of research include: Political Marketing Project Management; Youth Empowerment and Development, Small Business Entrepreneurship and Strategic Management.
