Bruce L. Priddy

Author Bruce Priddy started his life as a pet rodent in the care of the great Japanese author Hamato Yoshi. His extreme intelligence allowed him to not only learn his master's language -- inexplicably English, not Japanese -- but also his craft. He honed his talents over the years on a tiny type writer in between dust baths and hours on the wheel. Yoshi eventually moved to Louisville, Kentucky, where he was killed at poetry open mic night by the brother of his nemesis, Oroku Nagi. The salvage company that cleaned out Yoshi's apartment after his death loosed Bruce into a nearby sewer drain.

Bruce built a comfortable life in the sewers of Louisville, making ends meet with the occasional article in local weeklies. Then one day, while hunting for some food, up from the ground came a bubbling ooze. Radioactive, that was. Speculative fiction tea. Crawling in the ooze were four baby turtles. After feasting on their soft bellies, Bruce began to grow, to mutate. The ooze conveniently transformed him into the affable young man we know today. (Biography provided by the Kentucky Gentleman, Michael Lewis)

In addition to the works below, Bruce's work may be found at MicroHorror, Flashes in the Dark, the Surreal Grotesque and Weird Year. His column "Paranormal Apostate" appears on BinnallofAmerica.com promoting skepticism in the face of paranormal claims. He placed first in the Literary Leo 2012 short fiction contest.
