Lee Gold has written professional role-playing game books including "Land of the Rising Sun" and "Lands of Adventure" for FGU, GURPS Japan (first edition), and "Vikings" for Iron Crown Enterprises. She's run role-playing campaigns set in Viking era Iceland, futuristic Outer Space, medieval Japan -- and a Moslem Spanish merchant caravan introducing chocolate and other New World foods to European royal courts. She has been running a monthly role-playing game since she encountered D&D in 1973. Since 1975, she has published a monthly role-playing and gaming fanzine called "Alarums and Excursions" , which has won gaming industry awards. The Bloodslut Trilogy is not like any of her role-playing campaigns.
She also writes filksongs (see the Wikipedia article) including "You Bash the Balrog" and publishes a bimonthly filksong magazine called "Xenofilkia". In 1997 she was named to the Filk Hall of Fame. The Bloodslut Trilogy is not like any of her filksongs -- not even the filksong about a vampire in "Eleanor Rigby -- She's Back".
Lee Gold began reading science fiction in junior high school. She received an MA in English Literature at UCLA and eventually encountered science fiction fandom and joined in the fun. She met Barry Gold and married him two years later. Her favorite authors include Anderson, Asimov, Baker, Bujold, Brust, Cabell, Heinlein, Heyer, Kipling, Miller & Lee, Moon, Doc Smith, and Tolkien. The Bloodslut Trilogy isn't much like any of their books. She wrote The Bloodslut Trilogy because she wanted to read it. She hopes you will feel the same way.
