David Berry

David served for seven years in the White House Council on Environmental Quality and has spoken and undertaken projects in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas. He was invited to speak on spirituality and the environment at the Russian Academy of Science and has served on committees on natural resources of the American Academy of Science.

In the 1970s and 80s, David performed on television and radio including many appearances on National Public Radio’s "The Prairie Home Companion”.

He is past president of one of the oldest meditation centers in North America and gives workshops and retreats in the US, Mexico, and Canada.

The idea to write Gate in the Fence of Time: A Journey to the Birth of America began when David visited Colonial Williamsburg many years ago. He procrastinated on actually writing it until the characters in the book began to insist on being heard. The book is now a best seller at Colonial Williamsburg and other bookstores in the area.

David previously co-edited another book titled “Tales of Awakening” in which over 65 practitioners shared stories of inspiring or challenging interactions with their meditation teacher that years later they knew to have made a major contribution in their lives.

David and his family live in Virginia and in the past have lived in France, Italy, Korea, and Ecuador.
