Patrick Benson

Patrick M. Benson is a retired information technologist. During his career he worked with military applications, telecomm industry cost accounting and university higher education software systems. Mr. Benson is generally given credit for the first large implementations of web-centric database sockets. This is the technology that facilitates the secure, high speed and high capacity, database access required for web-centric business and commerce today.

In 2017, Mr. Benson published THRIST: A Water War Novel. The elevator speech is: The worldwide drought continues. A new US Constitution has been adopted with most federal power transferred to seven super-states. The old interstate agreements, including those for commercial traffic, electrical power and water sharing, are voided. Citizens in the Republic of California are dying for lack of water. Diplomacy fails. Sacramento must do something, anything, to secure water. The Republican Guards are ordered into Oregon to seize and divert water. Political leaders in the Pacific Northwest demand an immediate and unconditional withdrawal. While politicians in Sacramento seek delay through negotiation, the military in Spokane plans for war. Will California's secure needed water before the Pacific Northwest builds and delivers the ultimate retaliation? Will one side blink? And, will they blink quickly enough?
