John Sweet speaks from a wide array of experience and an unmistakable passion to enrich the lives of hurting children and those who care for them. He and his wife, Jo Ann, were foster parents for eleven years. During that time the Sweets provided care for over 100 special needs adolescent boys. Dr. Sweet served as a pastor for over 20 years, as a foster/adoptive parent, as a law enforcement chaplain, as a crisis intervention specialist with children and families, and has served as part-time professor in the Sociology Department of Lee University.
He directed residential programs in two states, served as a consultant with national and international orphanages. His stories illustrate powerful leadership and life principles that have been gleaned from working with children, families and as a program administrator; in addition to colleagues in caregiving. It is a joy and passion for the Sweet’s to share their experiences and knowledge with leaders, pastors, parents and caregivers.
