Ney Grant

Ney Grant is an author, adventurer, and award-winning outdoor photographer whose writing spans outdoor adventures and backcountry aviation. He is the author of Fifty Classic Destinations for Pilots, Fifty Classic Adventures in California and Fifty Classic Adventures In the Southwest. He is currently writing Alaska Pilot's Guide: Flying To and Around Alaska.

A private pilot with over 2,800 hours, Ney has flown to Mexico, Alaska, and Cuba, including backcountry landings across the Alaskan wilderness. His adventures extend well beyond the cockpit: he has climbed to 25,000 feet without supplemental oxygen in Nepal, kayaked the Grand Canyon, and established new climbing routes in the Sierra Nevada.

Before turning to writing full time, Ney founded, grew, and sold a 20-person technology company, and later built and ran his own boutique M&A advisory firm, Compass Point Capital, advising on the sale of mid-size businesses. He is now retired from that career and devotes his time to flying, writing, and documenting the West Coast and Alaska through his blog, westcoastflyingadventures.
