Sonya Vaughn

Sonya Vaughn writes, teaches writing, thinks about writing while she walks the dog, and uses writing as a tool to help others.

She spent most of her childhood living in the motels her parents owned, first in Lander, Wyoming and then in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Her father, an avid outdoors man, dragged her all over the Rocky Mountains. As an adult, she explored deserted missile silos in Texas and survived the collapse of the auto industry in Michigan.

All of these experiences fuel Sonya’s writing. Over time, she has learned the power of writing to inspire wonder, to reduce stress, and to help her understand her own story. She uses writing as a tool to teach creativity, mindfulness, and spirituality to others.

Sonya has been teaching writing at several colleges and universities for almost twenty years. Additionally, she coaches creative writers and speaks about strategies for cultivating creativity and for improving writing skills. She is a member of the Arizona Authors Association and the Scottsdale Society of Women Writers. You can follow her blog at www.sonyavaughn.com.
