Amanda Mayers is a mother of two sons and a proud grandmother to three grandsons. Her life and work have been shaped by both deep personal experience and a passion for supporting children through emotional understanding and healing.
While working as a newly qualified nurse and raising two young children, Amanda was given a diagnosis of schizophrenia. This experience became part of her journey of resilience, compassion and insight into mental health and recovery.
She later retrained as a palliative care social worker, where she supported children through pre-bereavement work, helping them gently explore and manage their feelings during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Amanda writes with warmth, care and a touch of magic, inspired by her sons and the children she has supported throughout her career. Her books are created to help children feel understood, comforted and less alone. Any profits from their sales are donated to the NSPCC in support of Childline and its vital work with children.
