Shirley Johnson is the author of 5 novels that span the genres: the controversial I Heart Ed Small and its sequel Baby Small, the timely novel, The Music of Mary Frances for her followers on tumblr, and the survival series The Water War, Episodes I and II which the reader will find captures the overreach of the government during an exploited crisis.
As a young girl she discovered the escape hatch that is reading and soon became fascinated with how a good yarn could take her someplace wonderful.
Born and raised in Central IL where people are pragmatic, her parents encouraged her to get a good education. She majored in Political Science and minored in Russian and went off to work in politics and international weapons sales.
But the urge to write, to braid plots, and invent characters, called to her.
