Biography
My first Detective Crime Thriller, 'The Thirteenth Torment,' is based on my experiences on a specialist investigative team in the police. I wanted to write a crime novel from a different perspective - and The Thirteenth Torment is the story of what happens when the police murder investigation team have to turn to another group of specialist police officers to understand what's going on. It is the first of what will be a series of DI Kate Landers novels.
What else do I do?
I have great fun running around the woods and trails and doing 10k obstacle course races with a group of like minded nut cases!
I often find myself rolling about doing press ups, or some other form of torture, in atrocious weather conditions, with rain lashing down and mud up my knickers. I have absolutely no idea why this is so much fun, but it is and I love it. I often jam my feet in my muddy trainers and take off into the woods to run the trails...or at least jog along them! And I am grateful that I can watch the seasons change as I lope through the woods. I don't listen to music when I'm running - I listen to the birds.
I love to laugh. I make a conscious decision every day to be as happy as I can be. I believe if you look for the joy in life you will find it...and laughter will follow. Put my family together for more than five minutes and laughter will erupt. My sister and I have frequently been in such uproarious hysterics in Costas coffee shop or Starbucks that I'm amazed we haven't been thrown out! My sister can make me laugh harder than anyone I know.
I find inspiration in so many things. There are so many wonderful people in this world; courageous people, those who triumph in the face of dreadful odds and adversity, selfless people, those who give their lives in service to others, creative people, those with awesome talent - and the will to share it. I am humbled and inspired so often.
There are good people out there.
