Jim Melcher is Professor of Political Science at the University of Maine at Farmington, in Farmington, Maine, USA. He was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin, where he caught the political bug at a young age. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BA in Political Science and Geography and from the University of Minnesota with a Ph. D. in Political Science. He has published a chapter in Gary Bugh's edited volume Electoral College Reform, presented at the American Political Science Association's annual meetings and at other conferences, and has published in a variety of scholarly journals. He's also won six teaching awards. He and his wife Nancy Finnegan live in Maine.
