Katy Koontz is an award-winning freelance writer, author, and editor whose work has appeared in numerous publications (Reader's Digest, Health, Parenting, National Geographic Traveler, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Playboy, Self, Shape, Woman's Day, McCall's, and Outside, among them). She has served as a freelance editor for several best-selling authors and is herself the author of several works, including Family Fun in the Smokies: A Family-Friendly Guide to the Great Smoky Mountains (Great Smoky Mountains Association, 2012), Smoky Mountain Travel Guide (a Sutro Media travel app for smartphones), and The Banana Police (a children's picture book published by Willow Moon in 2012). Katy holds degrees in both journalism and in anthropology from Penn State University. She lives in Knoxville, Tennessee.
