Well done! July 27, 2012

Okay. I was impressed with this book. I anticipated that it would offer some points of view, but it turned out to so much more. I'm the parent of two bright boys. Regardless of gender, I thoroughly enjoyed reading College @ 13, and am so grateful for the work of these authors in naming and describing the field of parenting bright children. The wisdom to guide our kids into the best learning experiences is clearly and articulately presented in this book. It is no small feat to deconstruct the subtleties of parenting in guiding these beautiful young minds. I am so grateful for the breadth and depth of this work. For my taste, the message to take being different and transform into empathy, strength and creativity is sprinkled throughout the book. Well done.

Universal Appeal June 23, 2012

Solow's College @ 13 is research based, but extraordinarily approachable for any parent. While this book relates the stories of 14 successful women, each of whom "found herself" as a young teen as a member of Mary Baldwin College's Program for the Exceptionally Gifted (PEG), its message translates well to any family raising gifted children - girls or boys. Particularly interesting is her inclusion of the young women's voices throughout the book, as she delightfully intermingles text and subject quotations, allowing the reader to share their intellectual journeys.
