Glenn Geher

Glenn Geher is the Founding Director of Evolutionary Studies and Professor of Psychology at the State University of New York (SUNY) at New Paltz, where he has taught since 2000. Glenn has won multiple awards for his work, including SUNY Chancellor Awards for Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship, and Service and an award for excellence in advising from the international society for academic advising, NACADA. Glenn’s scholarship and teaching focus primarily on our evolved psychology, including how our minds are adapted to intensive social situations such as estrangement and betrayal. Glenn also has published extensively on the emerging field of Positive Evolutionary Psychology, which uses evolutionary scholarship to facilitate positive change at the individual, community, and societal levels. Glenn has completed 10 books, including his role as lead editor of the forthcoming Oxford Handbook of Evolutionary Psychology. He has published over 100 journal articles/book chapters on various topics.
