Marcela Mariz grew up in Rio de Janeiro, where she discovered storytelling on the stage, producing her first play at sixteen.
After graduating from law school, she moved to New York to study performing arts, then to the West Coast, where her passion for visual storytelling led her to embrace filmmaking while penning her debut novel, the YA sci-fi The Chosen of Gaia.
Her second novel, Let it Rain, is loosely inspired by a dear family friend and fueled by a lifelong obsession with 80s movies.
When she's not writing, Marcela can be found chasing waves at her local surf spot.
