James H. Tait

Born South London England 1930. Motherless at 18mths. Fatherless at 13 years. A Second World War evacuee in Kent and South Wales until 1944. Spent last year of of war at school in London under attacks from V1 and V2 rockets. Home destroyed by "Doodlebug". Served on Thames paddle steamer 1946/7, cargo freighters 1947-1950. Joined RAF 1950-1962. Served in Suez 1951-1954 during anti-British terrorist attacks. Service in UK with Fighter Command Squadron. Editor of Squadron magazine The Flying Tigers. Demobbed 1962 went into Insurance Industry. Retired 1992. Began horticultural business.Became editor of former grammar school Old Scholars magazine. Wrote short stories and articles and poetry as hobby. Began biography One Day At A Time 1980,finished it after death of my wife 1998. Married for fifty five years. Have four daughters and many grandchildren.
