Niranjan Karak, M.Sc., M.Tech., Ph.D. (all from IIT Kharagpur, India) is a Professor of Polymer Science and Nanomaterials of Chemical Sciences Department (former Head of the Department) and Head, Sophisticated and Analytical Instrument Center (SAIC) of Tezpur University (A Central University). Prof. Karak was also a Post-doctoral Fellow of Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) and Visiting Professor of Prof. Cho’s Laboratory, Department of Textile Engineering, Konkuk University, South Korea, as well as Guest Researcher of Lebnitz Institute of Polymer Research, Dresden, Germany. He had more than nineteen years in academic and one year industrial experience in the field. Dr. Karak has published about 183 research papers including review articles in reputed national (09) and international (174) Journals, and presented several research papers as well as invited talks based on his research findings in India and abroad. He has published five books. Dr. Karak has executed nine Government sponsored research projects from UGC, CSIR, DST, DRDO, DRL, NRB, DBT, etc. and two consultancy projects of a multinational industry. Prof. Karak guided many students for their MSc/MTech projects, fifteen research scholars for Ph.D. degree (six more are pursuing) and two post-doctoral fellows. He is also a reviewer of research papers and books for publications in many international publishing houses. His fields of research interest are mainly based on high performance advanced hyperbranched polymers, nanomaterials and their nanocomposites. Prof. Karak has credited six national awards from different learned academic societies including Government of India for his outstanding contribution in the field.
