Andreas Oertel holds degrees from the University of Winnipeg and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. He has had dozens of jobs over the past thirty years---everything from rickshaw driver to public health inspector to scrap metal artist---but his passion is writing for young people and he always returns to that.
He is the author of many critically acclaimed books for teens, including: Trouble at Impact Lake, Panama Pursuit, Prisoner of Warren, Stones of Time, Deep Trouble, and The Archeolojesters.
At 6 foot 5 inches, Oertel claims to be "The Tallest Writer in Canada" (but how would anyone even know that!?).
Andreas and his wife Diane live on the banks of the Lee River, in Eastern Manitoba. And when he's not writing books for young people, you'll find him puttering outside or in the garage tinkering with metal.
