Melinda Boyd is a registered dietitian (RD) with more than seven years in the field. She completed her undergraduate work in biology from Muhlenberg College and a nutrition degree from Cedar Crest College. After completing a dietetic internship she practiced clinical nutrition in Las Vegas, including trauma and pediatrics. Her specialty areas include weight management, where she focused much of her time as an outpatient nutrition counselor helping clients work towards healthy lifestyles and a healthy weight, as well as vegetarian and maternal/child nutrition. She has a earned a Certificate of Training in Adult Weight Management from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Melinda has a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Her studies there focused on epidemiology with an interest in chronic diseases and obesity. She has also earned a Master of Human Relations degree from the University of Oklahoma. She is currently a doctoral student in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
Melinda currently works in maternal, infant and child health. She also has a private practice where she helps families create healthy lifestyles and manage their weight. She is an adjunct nutrition instructor for two universities and her writing can be found on the RD written nutrition website www.thegoodcalorie.com. She travels whenever she can, learning about cultures and international food practices and is very involved in the international dietetics community.
