Stacy Musick

Stacy Musick has been a teacher for twenty years. For ten of those years, she has had a faithful volunteer in her classroom that keeps coming back. It is her therapy dog Angel. Musick's family adopted Angel from the animal shelter. Angel was a great family pet, except she suffered from separation anxiety when the family would leave each day. In an attempt to calm Angel's anxiety, the family decided to give her a "job." They trained with her to become a therapy dog that would listen to Mrs. Musick's students read. Not only did this cure Angel, it also had a wonderful impact on Mrs. Musick's students. With the encouragement of her class, Mrs. Musick wrote and published her first book about Angel. Her book is the recipient of the Learning Magazine 2014 Teachers' Choice Award for Children's Books. Musick hopes that her book will encourage others to adopt from the shelter. She also hopes that her book will show others that something good always comes from a challenge.
