DEBORAH L. HALL

Deborah L. Hall was born in 1963 in Pahokee, Florida. She moved to New York City in 1985 and has traveled extensively. Her love of the Glades, her childhood and the people she meets inspires her poetry and essays. She developed her style of analyzing narrative by teaching literature at Florida State. First influenced by Jerome Stern's "shapely fiction," she seeks out shapes and patterns in prose by close reading for rhetorical techniques. She earned the PhD in English from Florida State University in 2004. She currently teaches at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia.
