My book is not just about technology. It is also about politics and the loss of freedom as socialist and communist governments take over the world. It is a message that illuminates American life in the mid-twentieth century and the personal freedom that we had to work as independent agents and to take on huge responsibilities in order to keep the fires of industry glowing. This freedom, unfortunately, is no longer a part of American life in the twenty-first century. Even in my own company, these freedoms no longer exist today and the individual employee must yield his or her decision making to higher authority, for even the most trivial of things. A "job" today, if a person is lucky enough to even have one, consists often of sitting behind a computer screen and manipulating data, an effort that is very far removed from the real world. My story is an illustration of how much freedom has been lost today on a personal level and how far we have drifted into a world controlled by government and corporate authority.
