Kurt N. Fredrickson is the Associate Dean for Professional Doctoral Programs and Associate Professor of Pastoral Ministry at Fuller. Prior to this assignment, he was part of the pastoral team at Simi Covenant Church in Simi Valley, California, USA for twenty-four years (eighteen of those years as senior pastor). Kurt has served at the regional and national level with his denomination, the Evangelical Covenant Church, as well as in his community as a member of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise, a board member of the Free Clinic of Simi Valley, a member of the City of Simi Valley’s Task Force on Homelessness, and as the supervising chaplain with the Simi Valley Police Department. Fredrickson was honored as one of the “Top 25 People of 2011” by the Simi Valley Acorn, and as the 2012 City Volunteer of the Year by the Simi Valley City Council.He is now the police chaplain with the Lafayette (CO) Police Department.
He has engaged the world and culture around him in numerous ways. During his tenure at Simi Covenant, the church developed a strong mission orientation that included a broadening role in local compassion ministries, planting a Latino congregation in Simi Valley, and becoming involved in global missions in Mexico, the Philippines, and Albania.
Ordained in the Evangelical Covenant Church, Kurt has served in many leadership roles with that denomination—on the regional executive board, church revitalization task force, task force on the ordered ministry, and the board of church growth and evangelism.
Kurt holds degrees from Westmont College and Fuller Theological Seminary (received his MDiv, DMin and PhD--Intercultural Studies. His PhD studies were in the area of missional church structures for North America.
His areas of research include the missional church in local contexts with emphasis on the role of pastors, the church and religion in American culture, and the history and future of renewal movements, especially American evangelicalism. He co-authored with Cameron Lee That Their Work Will Be a Joy: Understanding and Coping with the Challenges of Ministry (Cascade). He latest book called Compelled--

He is married to Kristi. They have two children, two spouses, and four grandchildren. They all live in the Boulder, Colorado (USA) area.
