Zach Royer

Zach Royer is a Hawaiʻi-based author, publisher, researcher, and explorer with a passion for uncovering forgotten history, preserving cultural stories, and investigating the mysteries of our world. Originally from Washington State, Royer has called Hawaiʻi Island home for more than 15 years, drawing inspiration from its extraordinary landscapes, ancient traditions, and enduring legends.

In 2011, he founded Kahuna Research Group (KRG), a nonprofit organization dedicated to research, education, cultural preservation, and the exploration of unexplained phenomena. What began as a passion for history and discovery has evolved into a multifaceted organization encompassing field research, documentary filmmaking, educational experiences, and publishing.

As the founder of Stone Compass Press, Royer has helped bring a diverse collection of books to readers, championing independent authors and stories that deserve to be told. His own works include Hawaiʻi Vortex Field Guide, Maui Vortex Field Guide, Pyramid Rising, Kona Haunted Hele, Hilo After Dark, and The Big Island Golf Guide, reflecting his wide-ranging interests in archaeology, spirituality, local history, travel, and adventure.

Beyond the written page, Royer produces and participates in documentary projects, including Sacred Sight, exploring ancient sites, unusual discoveries, and the enduring mysteries of the Pacific. He is also a co-founder of the Hawaiʻi Writers Alliance, supporting literary creativity and connecting writers with their communities.

Whether exploring a remote archaeological site, documenting a centuries-old legend, or helping a new author publish their first book, Royer approaches every endeavor with the same guiding belief: history deserves to be preserved, mysteries deserve to be explored, and every story deserves a chance to be told.

He continues to live, write, and explore on Hawaiʻi Island, where the next discovery is never far away.
