Since 2001 Cal Harrison has been the President of Beyond Referrals, a consulting firm that works with professional services firms and their clients to do a better job of selling, and buying, management consulting, architecture, engineering, advertising, IT and law. His primary focus is positioning and branding professional services firms.
Cal is a regular speaker at universities and conferences across North America, the Caribbean, and Europe such as the Harvard Business School Alumni, Institute of Management Consultants USA, and Deusto University in Spain.
His first book was written for owners of professional services firms and is titled The Consultant with Pink Hair. Structured as a novel, it has been described as "The Goal for professionals" and is the story of a small consulting firm that works through their struggle to attract new clients.
His second book titled Buying Professional Services: Replacing the Price-Based Request for Proposal with Qualifications Based Selection is a step-by-step guide for institutional and government buyers of professional services to reduce the inefficiency, direct expense, and societal cost of using an RFP to hire consultants in all areas of expertise.
Cal has a degree in English Literature, a diploma in Advertising as well as a Masters of Business Administration. He also holds the Certified Management Consultant designation and was previously a lecturer at Royal Roads University, The University of Manitoba, and The University of Winnipeg.
His goal is to change the world one RFP at a time.
