Kathleen Hellen

Kathleen Hellen is a poet and the author of the collection Umberto’s Night (2012), winner of the Jean Feldman Poetry Prize from Washington Writers' Publishing House, and two chapbooks The Girl Who Loved Mothra (2010) and Pentimento (2014), both from Finishing Line Press.

Her poems are widely published and have appeared in American Letters & Commentary; Barrow Street; Cimarron Review; The Cortland Review; Drunken Boat; the Hollins Critic; Prairie Schooner; Southern Poetry Review; Subtropics; Terrain; Witness; among others; and were featured on WYPR’s The Signal.

Other awards include prizes from the Washington Square Review, the James Still and Thomas Merton poetry prizes, as well as individual artist grants from the Maryland State Arts Council and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts, and two Pushcart nominations in 2013.
