Jill McCracken is a rhetorician and a scholar of gender and sexuality. She analyzes language to understand how marginalized communities and public policy discursively co-create and impact each other and the material conditions of individuals’ lives. Discourse as exploration and action is a foundation of her work, as well as her desire to create understanding and livability between and amongst individuals. Her research includes street-based sex work, trafficking of individuals in the sex trade, incarceration, and gendered and sexualized violence. She teaches courses in rhetoric, writing, and gender and sexuality at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
