Doug Miller

Douglas Miller is Emeritus Professor in Worker Rights in Fashion at the University of Northumbria. He has over 30 years experience in teaching, researching and communicating on the issues surrounding equality, corporate responsibility and industrial relations. In 2000, Doug was seconded from Northumbria University to the Brussels based Global Union: International Textile Garment and Leather Workers Federation. Over the next 8 years he worked as Research Director, co-ordinating research into supply chain developments in the textile, clothing and footwear sectors. This culminated in their joint sponsorship of a post at the Northumbria School of Design. Since retirement he has rekindled his interest in researching the military history of the first quarter of the 16th Century in Germany, specifically the events of the Great Peasants War which he continues to visualise through a series of dioramas which are displayed in a number of museums in Germany. Doug has published three titles in Helion & Company's 'From Retinue to Regiment' series: The Army of the Swabian League 1525; the German Peasants' War 1524-6 and A Mighty Fortress of God: the Siege of Muenster 1534-5.
