Thomas Sabel

Rev. Thomas Sabel is a published author, professor, and LCMS pastor. His poetry and fiction have been published in several literary journals including wordriver magazine, the Tipton Poetry Journal, Nebo, Halcyon, and others. His most recently published work of poetry, Restless Pilgrims, Journeys to Faith, aims to reinvigorate the neglected art of poetical reflection on the Christian life, provocatively exploring the liminal space between doubt and faith in Christ. His other works include the YA fantasy novel, Legends of Luternia: the Prince Decides, a catechetical fantasy written to teach the Lutheran catechism in a thoughtful and engaging way.

Thomas Sabel is currently the campus pastor at Purdue Fort Wayne where he also teaches in the English and Linguistics Department. As an LCMS pastor, he has served small and multi-point congregations in Indiana and Iowa. He is a graduate of Excelsior University (BA, 1984), Concordia Seminary (M. Div., 1993), Concordia Theological Seminary (STM, 2010), Indiana University (MLS, 2011), and is a doctoral candidate at the Institute for Lutheran Theology.

Inspired by his travels with his wife Judith, he has built a private chapel in his backyard.
