Yashi Nozawa

Yashi Nozawa was born in Tokyo, Japan. He came to the United States as a graduate student at a famous American University. Before completing his degree, he had a severe accident and was hospitalized for almost six months. In the hospital he met his future wife. This hospitalization forced him to get a job in the States in order to repay his medical debt before returning to Japan. He struggled to assimilate into unfamiliar American culture in school and at work. During the process, he experienced many embarrassing or humorous incidents, which became the subjects of stories in Temporary Permanence. He first worked in the aerospace industry, then after the collapse of the space industry in the late 1960s, for several different companies. After he retired, he decided to write his autobiography as a post-retirement project; even though he never had training in writing, especially in English writing. For almost ten years he studied creative and biographical writing. He started writing short stories as practice for serious book writing. Temporary Permanence is a collection of the jewels of his short stories. Many readers have praised his O’Henry-style writing and eagerly await his next stories.
