Mark Rice

I grew up in Dallas, TX and became fascinated with history from an early age, especially twentieth century history. I eventually began collecting images and stories about early Dallas and Texas history, which led to the publication of my 2007 book, Downtown Dallas: Romantic Past, Modern Renaissance. As part of my research, I stumbled across the true story of Florence Brown and her tragic and unsolved 1913 murder just off a crowded downtown street. Stolen Promise (2012)is based on her true story and includes an enormous amount of factual detail from the city's early history. I hope to publish further Dallas history books as time permits.
