Janet Brice Parker

Janet Brice Parker grew up in Alabama where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University in Tuscaloosa. After a prolific career in watercolor painting, she began to paint with words. Janet was influenced by her father’s rhymes, grandmother’s published memoirs and her love of reading. In The Ivy Stays Green, Janet drew on her experiences of growing up in a small southern town in the nineteen fifties and sixties. She also delighted in stories passed down by family members. In addition to The Ivy Stays Green Janet has written and illustrated a children's book of teaching rhymes titled Do Right Rhymes. She has been published in Jimmy Buffett’s Coconut Telegraph; was a featured poet in Lucidity, a Houston, Texas publication; Trouvere Company Writer’s Gazette Newsletter; The Blount Countian Newspaper; Kota Press and Kudzu Monthly internet Journals. Two of Janet’s poems were selected for the book, Cosmic Brownies, which included work by well known author, teacher and actress, Maya Angelou.

Janet lives in a rustic mountain retreat with her husband, Eddie and their dog, Bernadette.
