Vernon William was born, the story goes, in the little sleepy hamlet of Ermelo, South Africa. Once, when questioned by the riot squad, he admitted as much.
He was born, serendipitously as it were, exactly one hundred years after Sarah Hershberger bumped her toe against her daddy's ox-wagon wheel on their Tennessee farm, that fateful day of 22 March, 1873.
When not fostering grandiloquent but slightly deluded aspirations to be a great author, Vernon William teaches at the University of the Free State. When he's not teaching, well, he's fostering grandiloquent but slightly deluded ... oh shucks, you get the picture.
Vernon William loves his wife, his Maker, his cats and dogs, chocolate fudge ice cream and the Great Outdoors. He also loves using phrases like The Great Outdoors. Oh yes, he loves Jack Daniel's.
If you've just read (or even better, purchased) one of Vernon William's books, then trust me, you've made his day. He thanks you from the bottom of his little red heart.
Why, you ask, does Vernon William refer to himself in the third person? 'Who's this guy, this third person everybody keeps asking about?' Vernon William was once overheard saying at an event. And, 'Go conjugate yourself!' during another event, a Jack's-fuelled romp in the two star Ermelo Holiday Inn. That guy, Vernon!!! If you can't beat him ... then shoot him.
But seriously. The Disappeared is Vernon William's first novel. Buy it now, why don't you.
Be on the lookout for his next exciting novel, Daddy Long Legs. During the 80's a vicious serial killer haunted the little town of Hope. Then he mysteriously disappeared. Now, after an absence of twenty years, he's back. Can Detective Wayne Human apprehend the killer, before another child becomes his victim?
