Neil Booth

I was born in Hartlepool in 1942 but have spent most of my life in Bradford, West Yorkshire. I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1963 and eventually ended up as a tax and national insurance specialist. (That accounts for the technical books in my list.) However, in 1995, I retired from accountancy because of persistent heart problems.

At about the same time as I qualified as a CA, I became a Reader in the Church of England, and behind that lay the real passion of my life - the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the good news of the Kingdom. Except that, over the years, I wrestled with a growing conviction that the 'good news' I proclaimed was not really such good news at all. My two most recent books - Too Bad To Be True and Living the Mystery - address that issue. In a fictional framework, it explores and challenges some of the key tenets of evangelical Christianity. The third book of the trilogy is in progress.

On a personal level, I have been married to Yvonne for the last 38 years and together we share and enjoy many things - being together, reading, music, wine, eating out, and holidays in Western Crete.
