Candida Baker

Born into a literary and theatrical family, Candida Baker grew up in the picturesque village of Rousham, nestled at the edge of the Cotswolds. From an early age she had several passions in her life - horses, writing and photography.

In 1975 she visited Australia with the Royal Shakespeare Company, and on her return to the UK she decided to emigrate, arriving back in Australia with the London to Sydney Car Rally in 1977. Since then Candida has had over 16 books published, and worked as a journalist and reviewer on many of Australia's major newspaper and magazines.

In 2004 she moved to the Byron Bay hinterland in order to fulfil her lifelong ambition of living in the country, writing and working with her horses.

Candida’s 'Horse Listener' column appears in an Australian equine magazine, and she has an FB page of the same name. She is also president of an Equine Charity, Equus Alliance.

Her latest book, 'The Heart of the Horse - life lessons from horses and other animals' is a passionate and often humorous insight into her relationships with the horses and other animals that have shaped her life.
