Julio M. Shiling

Julio M. Shiling is a political scientist, author, lecturer, columnist, media commentator, and director of Patria de Martí and The CubanAmerican Voice. He holds a master’s degree in political science from Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida. He is a member of The American Political Science Association and The PEN Club (Cuban Writers in Exile Chapter).

He is the author of fourteen books, including the much-acclaimed “Dictatorships and Their Paradigms: Why Do Some Dictatorships Fall While Others Do Not?” (2013, 2022), formerly a two-volume work and now formatted into one book. Being fluent in Spanish has allowed him to publish his works in that language as well. As a media commentator, he is a frequent visitor on local, national, and international television, radio, podcast, and other media platform programs. He has received recognition for his contribution towards the promotion of human rights and a culture of liberty.
