Anita Amdahl Elco holds a Master’s degree in education and has had the privilege of working with outstanding students and faculty alike as an English teacher at Saguaro High School in Scottsdale, AZ for over ten years and at Paradise Valley Community College for over six years. While she enjoys many facets of teaching comprehension and composition in secondary and higher education, her passion has been finding books for reluctant readers that they just can’t put down. Her love of reading developed early as an elementary student in Fountain Hills’ Four Peaks Elementary where she recalls listening to stories read by favorite teachers such as Mrs. Gustafson, Mrs. Romeo, and especially Ms. Puype. These treasured memories, coupled with her experience as a parent and as an educator, perpetuated a desire to write engaging, content-rich literature for young readers that empowers them to learn and creates a hunger to read. Anita lives in Scottsdale, AZ with her husband, three children, and numerous pets including two lovable Pomeranians, one sassy hamster, and of course, five hermit crabs (Cinderella, Jasmine, Boulder, and “the Twins”).
