Charles L Rogers

I am the product of a single parent family from a time when single parent families were a rarity. That was especially true in the small West Texas town where I grew up. Since my mother had to work hard to raise four children, my siblings and I were left to find our own way most of the time. I never established the habit of planning for the next moment, much less the future.

Playing guitar, singing and songwriting were not goals that I set for my life, but they became an important part of it. I never planned to write a book or even considered any part of my life worth writing about, but it has been an amazing process that has given me a deep appreciation for the love, wisdom and songs that have come to me as I stumbled through life. My strategy (or lack thereof) did not bring me fame or fortune, but no amount of wealth could buy the treasures I have found.

Will I write any more books? I don't plan to, but given my past, that doesn't really answer the question.

I do have one plan for the rest of my life. I plan to enjoy the life and love I share with my wife, family and friends.

I don't know why I decided to use my formal name to publish my book and CD's. Although I was known as Charles or Charlie while I was growing up, I've been Chuck since I went to California to attend college in the mid 1960's. Just another thing I forgot to plan.
