Kate Thompson

Kate E Thompson is a Seattle author. Her interests range from the 19th century woman's experience to genealogy to making handcrafted books. She’s especially fond of reading old letters and diaries. She stops at all bookstores, art galleries and historical museums. Her dog, Ali, a Goldendoodle, is her loyal writing companion. Currently, she's working on her second book, A Family of Forgetters, a historical fiction novel about Annie, a Danish immigrant coming of age in 19th century Salt Lake City, Utah.

Kate is a Hedgebrook Writers in Residence alumna, historian, book artist, graphic designer and has been a freelance journalist, editor, event planner, and bookstore owner. She studied creative writing, poetry and art at the University of Washington and earned a degree in English while working at her daughters' elementary school. She's an avid reader - naturally, and book hoarder.

Early on, Kate learned the world is full of talkers. She isn't one of them. She was raised in a small town in southern Oregon by a stay-at-home mom and a bulldozer driving dad. Named Kathleen after the Irish ballad, she dreamed of moving to Ireland where she'd become an astronomer. So far, except for a brief stint in the Midwest, Kate has lived her whole life in the great Pacific Northwest and she never became an astronomer, but she wrote a novella called - The Asteroid's Daughter and the Serpent Handler's Son (New Halem Tales).

She wants to live in Dublin, Ireland someday, but until then, she and her husband live outside of Seattle, Washington with their daughter, two beloved dogs and three cats.

Noah Cathcart, Associate Pastor of his father’s church, is married to Grace, the Pinup Girl of Pastors’ Wives, and they have an 8-year-old son, a 3-legged Chihuahua and a mortgage. So far, Noah’s life has gone according to plan.

Noah’s best friend and fellow Bigfoot Hunter, Charlee Radcliff, who has her own problems, comes to Noah’s aid and they set out to put his life back in order. Will the Bigfoot Code they penned when they were kids help? Or will it take a tragic event to give him the courage to risk his plan and find out who Noah Cathcart is, what he wants in life and what it takes to be a father, husband, brother, son and pastor. The answer may be closer than he thinks.
